Thomas Miller B.V. ("TMBV") is, among other things, the manager of the insurance company UK P&I Club N.V. ("UKNV") and TT Mutual Insurance N.V. UKNV is an insurance company licensed by DNB and operates from its office in Rotterdam. Both TMBV and UKNV are part of a larger family of Thomas Miller companies headquartered in London. Since Brexit, Rotterdam is responsible for multiple entities in Europe, 4 at the moment and it will be 5 very soon.

Characteristic of the Thomas Miller group is that they are mutual insurance companies with a long tradition in the global maritime and transport industry. The structure of TMBV is strongly based on outsourcing, minimizing operational processes and overhead at the Rotterdam office. Despite the goal of working with a small and highly efficient team, Thomas Miller requires further support to accelerate activities and continuously meet increasing legal obligations, thus better supporting its stakeholders. From the office in Rotterdam, you work in a small but friendly setting where collaboration and camaraderie are central.

The Team
The finance function of TMBV consist of:
• Chief Financial Officer (CFO) (1): Also serving as the CEO of the two insurers managed by TMBV.
• Finance Manager (1): Also functioning as the CFO of the two insurers managed by TMBV.
• Senior Financial Controllers (3)
• (Junior) Financial Controllers (3)
• Senior Data Analyst (1)

The Senior Financial Controllers are jointly responsible for carrying out all financial activities in
collaboration with the (Junior) Financial controllers, the Senior Data Analyst and the finance departments
of the Clubs.
The whole team will contribute to improving data management and the internal control framework. There

Functieomschrijving
As a Senior Financial Controller you support the CFO in the overall finance function responsible for managing the 3 legal entities together with 2 other Financial Controllers and one (Junior) Financial Controller.
The successful individual will be process driven, focusing on improvement and efficiency, demonstrates exceptional technical and analytical skills and builds meaningful relationships across business areas whilst supporting the CFO.

Tasks and responsibilities:

• Preparing the monthly and quarterly management accounts and annual statutory/regulatory financial statements and filings;
• Preparing the tax filing and liaison with tax specialists (CIT, VAT, IPT) ;
• Assist and Responsible Treasury and Club Payments in performing cash transfers(management, credit control and payments);
• Review tasks of other Financial Controllers;
• Maintaining the control environment for the financial records of the company, including continuous assessment of its effectiveness as the business grows and evolves;
• Collaborate with different key function holders to understand and document data;
• Proactively recommending improvements to processes and procedures and involvement in its implementation;
• Create, improve and automate reporting methods;
• Participate in projects with the CFO, Senior Finance Controllers, Data Team and other senior executives as required from time to time;
• Monitor qualitative and timely reporting by our service providers;
• Support with other ad hoc finance and administrative tasks.

Functie-eisen

• 5+ years of progressively senior experience in financial reporting and accounting with a strong understanding of IFRS and Dutch GAAP. Also a minimum of 2 years' experience in an insurance environment (non-life insurance company or accountancy firm);
• Bachelor's degree in Business, Economics, Accounting, or related field; CPA or other advanced designations considered an asset;
• Strong proficiency with MS Excel and familiarity with financial systems;
• You have a global mindset, and you are an independent, detail-oriented problem-solver who is strong in communication;
• Willingness to travel broad as and when required.

• Salary: €75.000-€95.000 (including holiday allowance);
