FunctieomschrijvingWe are seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to join our fast-growing development team responsible for hybrid powertrains. In this role, you will play a crucial part in the design and development of transmission housings, ensuring they meet functional and manufacturing requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Act as the Component Owner for the housings of electric propulsion systems.
- Establish housing designs that meet both functional requirements and HPDC (High-Pressure Die Casting) technology specifications.
- Develop components while ensuring proper interfaces with other subsystems and vehicle components.
- Coordinate the creation of 3D CAD models and 2D drawings, including relevant specifications such as porosity and cleanliness.
- Manage scheduling and follow-up on cross-functional engineering activities and tasks.
- Coordinate analytical and physical design verifications/tests, assess results, and prepare project reports.
- Lead a cross-functional team of design, purchasing, and process development for the component.
- Establish and maintain component requirements, aligning them with system requirements and supplier capabilities.
Functie-eisen- BSc, MSc or PhD in Mechanical Engineering.
- Profound knowledge of HPDC design and manufacturing, with an understanding of the opportunities and restrictions associated with casting technology.
- Experience in designing highly stressed mechanical components for automotive propulsion systems.
- Familiarity with project management principles and experience in planning and managing component responsibilities.
- Good knowledge of CAE and die-cast/mold-flow simulation, as well as PLM and CAD systems (e.g., Windchill, CREO).
- Experience or affinity with automotive engineering and related processes.
Preferred Skills and Experience:
- Strong expertise in the analysis and design of transmission housing and its components.
- Extensive experience in the design and verification of HPDC components and corresponding manufacturing techniques.
- Proficiency in both analytical and numerical (FEA) simulation techniques.
- Knowledge of automotive development processes, including FMEA, APQP, DCP, Six Sigma, and 8D.
- Team player capable of working in a multidisciplinary, international, and dynamic environment.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to manage challenging situations, including issue resolution and prioritization.
