We are looking for a Service Manager to join the Octagon Professionals projects team at the European Space Agency (ESA) in Noordwijk (ESTEC). This role will support the Directorate of Human and Robotic Exploration at ESA, with responsibilities in both Noordwijk, The Netherlands, and Cologne, Germany. The Service Manager will lead a team of 12 people, focusing on planning and executing internal and external communication and outreach activities for the HRE-FC. The successful candidate will be tasked with, but not limited to:
- Implement an effective and economical management for the service.
- Responsible for the management and execution of the work to be performed. The Service Manager shall lead and exercise active monitoring and control over the service team to ensure that the service conforms to management and Service requirements.
- Responsible for the service reliability and availability ensuring that adequate resources are allocated to the service to ensure performance and the timely completion of tasks.
- Ensure good communication, coordination, and cooperation within the service, across all service interfaces and with all stakeholders.
- Responsible for the performance of the service and for proposing service improvements based on the best practices and feedback from ESA.
- Responsible for the knowledge management and lessons learned from the service.
- Define, produce and maintain a repository accessible by the ESA TR with all the procedures and training materials necessary to provide the service.
Requirements:
- At least 4 years of relevant experience;
- Minimum degree level educational background in STEM and/or business subjects. Professional certifications in the management domain are necessary;
- Solid understanding and demonstrated experience in the space sector, space systems development and operations;
- Highly proficient in communication with international teams;
- Organizational skills, with attention to detail, the ability to identify priorities and manage risks and issues effectively;
- Effective time management;
- Proactive attitude;
- Fluency in English, both written and spoken.
