Octagon Professionals is looking to recruit a number of staff to provide a service to ESTEC in the Netherlands (based in Noordwijk) in the area of Business Management Support in the Human Robotic and Exploration Directorate, which leads the development of several space projects (e.g., lunar projects, Mars & beyond, etc.).
In relation to Business Management Support, Octagon is seeking skilled professionals to support the data and database management of the HRE Business Control and Management Support Group.
The following tasks are required:
Database Administration, Operations and Data Management key tasks:
- Provide administration, operation, monitoring, and control functions for a number of tools (financial planning and control tool; Business Objects and Power BI environment, HRE dashboards, and risk tools);
- Provide user support and communications for the HRE-related systems/databases;
- Manage and support the testing of patches and new releases relevant to HRE planning tools and databases;
- Maintain configuration control of HRE database releases and patches;
- Ensure compliance with ESA Corporate IT policies and standards for IT equipment, software licenses, and data protection;
- Support HRE in process analysis, problem analysis, and reporting in the utilization of the corporate SAP solution and other applications;
- Support and liaise with ESA IT on the preparation activities for a transition away from Oracle databases;
- Support audits, including preparation, coordination of inputs, and follow-up of actions.
Business Analysis key tasks:
- Provide oversight and coordination of data verification tasks between the ESA corporate financial system and the Directorate planning database;
- Analyze complex datasets from disparate sources, conduct exploratory data analysis and data mining to identify trends, anomalies, and solve complex data questions and queries;
- Perform predictive modeling;
- Support the long-term planning scenario analysis;
- Prepare, implement, and maintain the basis of future geographical returns reporting by supporting documentation;
- Identify and assess HRE IT's current tools, translating them into functional specifications and solutions;
- Design, develop, and implement new IT systems and tools such as dashboards, reports, and workflows;
- Prepare the basis of future workforce tools.
Digitalisation and Database Training Support key tasks:
- Create and maintain training materials and user guides on IT systems, tools, databases, reports, and dashboards;
- Provide training briefings, procedures, and guidelines on HRE tools and databases;
- Provide recommendations for continuous improvement and optimization of IT needs, systems, and tools based on best practices, benchmarking, and user feedback.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in science/engineering/computer science/IT. Professional certifications in relevant areas are an asset;
- Minimum 5 years of demonstrated related experience in the Space/High Tech sector and in the work package/tasks described above;
- High proficiency (expert or Master level skill) in the use of business tools such as SAP ECC & SRM, Data Factory, Data Cube, etc.; Database/SQL skills (Oracle, MS SQL database, Python, Perl or R) for data analysis and modeling;
- Experienced with data manipulation and analysis libraries, Business Objects, Power BI, business intelligence tools, and predictive modeling skills (using AI);
- High capacity to communicate effectively with international teams from engineering, technical, and business domains;
- High level of organizational skills, flexibility, and ability to identify priorities;
- Strong and effective interpersonal and communication skills;
- Fluent in English, both written and spoken.
