We're looking for an analytical and proactive Assistant Financial Controller to be a key player in managing the financial heartbeat of our hotel. What will you do?
Financial Reporting and Analysis:
- Assist in preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
- Perform variance analysis on revenues, expenses, and budget comparisons.
- Generate and interpret financial reports for management, highlighting any discrepancies.
Budgeting and Forecasting:
- Work closely with department heads to develop accurate budgets and forecasts.
- Monitor financial performance against budgets, providing insights and recommendations.
- Assist in preparing rolling forecasts to support strategic planning.
Internal Controls and Compliance:
- Ensure compliance with hotel policies, financial regulations, and audit requirements.
- Implement and maintain internal controls to safeguard the hotel's assets.
- Support audit processes, both internal and external, by providing accurate documentation and responses.
Accounts Payable and Receivable Management:
- Oversee accounts payable and receivable, ensuring timely processing and reconciliations.
- Assist in monitoring cash flow, receivables aging, and resolve any discrepancies.
- Coordinate with other departments to ensure timely and accurate billing.
Inventory and Cost Control:
- Assist in monitoring and managing costs related to inventory, supplies, and operations.
- Work with the purchasing department to optimize supplier relationships and control expenses.
System and Process Improvement:
- Identify opportunities for process enhancements to improve efficiency in financial operations.
- Support software implementation, upgrades, and training for finance-related systems.
Team Collaboration and Support:
- Provide financial insights and support to department heads and assist with ad hoc financial projects.
- Act as a point of contact for finance-related queries across departments.
Who are we looking for?
- Dutch citizen or valid work permit
- Requires good communication skills, both verbal and written. Fluent in English, Dutch is a plus.
- 2 – 3 years of experience within (hotel) finance & accounting required with at least one year in an Assistant Controller or similar supervisory role or an equivalent combination of education and work-related experience.
- Must be able to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups to managers, clients, customers, and ownership
- Must be able to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
- Ability to meet deadlines and maintain accuracy of information
- Ability to “see the bigger picture”
